Handmade books
A sample of some handmade books I have made.
Recycled handmade book.
The cover is brown packaging painted with
acrylic and colored pencil.
Inside the cover lined with scrapbook paper scraps.
The hard cover is the cardboard back of the watercolor paper pad.
Old acrylic paintings are painted black on the back
and folded and bound as signatures inside the book.
This cover is repainted watercolor paper.
The calligraphy is written on scraps.
The pages are recycled junk mail envelopes painted black.
The envelopes are marked with doodles in white colored pencil.
I kept the original rips and windows.
The pages are out of order: this is the inside cover and 1st page.
I place cut-outs and stickers that I call trinkets
in the top of the envelope.
The signatures are sewn with a long stitch using black and white baker's twine.
