One of my favorite artist's dates is taking classes. 

I put aside a little time to acquire new skills 

and to improve the ones I have.

My favorite platform for this is Skillshare

type in banners and see the classes that pop up. 

Using this link will earn points or classes 

for me, but you can just type in .com if that is better for you.

      I embellished the banners and created sheets to 

journal on. I like to write with I Ching prompts, 

dream journal entries, or goal brainstorming.

Before cutting and trimming

I'm thinking of sewing them to a substrate.

I tried using iron-transfer paper,(wating to create felt charms) which I have used in the past but the same fabric, same iron, same felt doesn't work.

Oh well, I have another idea.

HOW i USE MY SVG FILES

I start with the file. I use Inkscape. A simple way of turning anything I draw, into vectors, then I can use these components to create my design.

These were cut using a brother scan n cut machine.

These are from random kits that I will have in my Etsy shop. The circle is a test cut. I used 140 lb water color paper 9" inches x12 " inches.

I removed them from the cutting mat, and painted them with water color.

After painted them I added doodles and calligraphy. 

Green and flowers...= spring.

This drawing was created on open source software called My Paint. I love the brushes the colors and the way it responds to my hand and tablet.

I use Ubuntu on a linux dual boot.

Learning inkscape

I have been working, playing with the open source software Inkscape. So much fun! I started for weeks with my tablet scribbling trying to get used to the pressure, timing and co-ordinate the tablet with the monitor.



After 20-30 of these I began to get control of the tablet, in a way that is comfortable for me. The icons above began as a doodle/scribble file like this:

Working in colored pencil

I am working on improving my drawing. This one is colored pencil on white card-stock. I like using plain card-stock. On this one I used Prisma color colored pencils, crayola colored pencils and calligraphy marker.
